Read 1 Peter 2:9-12.
Using the term ‘holy nation’ would have reminded the Jewish people of their history. God had saved the nation of Israel from slavery in Egypt and taken them to the Promised Land. God commissioned them to be a light and a blessing to the Gentiles.
1. What do you understand by the term ‘holy nation’? What was the role of Israel towards the Gentiles?
2. In what ways is the church different from the world?
3. What is the purpose of the church being different?
4. What would the ideal nation look like, and how far away is this nation from that?
